I'm Pregnant
Last year, my great aunt told me she had a dream that I was going to be pregnant at the end of 2014. Ha…..Hahahaha.... I instantly gave her my famous screwface. But she insisted it was me in her dream. Yea right, I thought. I think I was at my aunt’s house for a gathering and we all shared the laughs over that JOKE!!!! I may have the dates mixed up but around that time I had just started this blog.
A few months ago I dreamed that I was pregnant and it was weird as hell. I had the baby and had brought it home to my parent’s house. My mom kept asking who’s the daddy and I couldn’t remember. “Where are the clothes?” Again, I couldn’t remember. I replied, dumbfounded, “I forgot to have a baby shower”. Funny, right? This was just before I started training to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate.
My mom got sick last month and was in the hospital for 3 days. I went home and stayed with her. The night before I drove back to Richmond, I had another dream. This time I was just pregnant. I can’t for the life of me remember what happened but that morning I ran and told my mom, “Ma I dreamed I was pregnant again!” She simply replied, “That usually means death!” My heart and face instantly dropped. Mind you, she had just gotten out of the hospital the day before so I already sat up all night worried about her. I think she was still high on whatever drugs they gave her J . I had to ask her why she would say something like that in her current situation. As soon as I got to work, I just had to google the meaning of dreams. Nah, I couldn’t possibly be dreaming about death the day after my mother gets out of the hospital. Nah, I’m not accepting that, I thought to myself.
I have got to share with yall what I found. I have never been one to accept the power of numbers, symbols, dreams, etc but I’m telling you, I’m starting to believe. I googled dream meanings and found pregnancy as a main theme. Here’s what I read:
“To dream that you are pregnant symbolizes an aspect of yourself or some aspect of your personal life that is growing and developing. You may not be ready to talk about it or act on it. Being pregnant in your dream may also represent the birth of a new idea, direction, project, or goal. Dreaming that you did not realize you were pregnant implies that you are in denial about something. It also symbolizes fear of new responsibilities”-Dreammoods.com
I couldn’t believe what I was reading. There was my current life summed up in about 4 sentences. This whole year has been uncomfortable for me. In a good way though. I have been through so many changes, personally and professionally. I’ve been exposed to opportunities that I hadn’t imagined. My life is moving in a direction I never thought existed for me. A few weeks ago, Dr. Lance Watson said in his sermon that God wouldn’t place a dream or idea on your heart if he didn’t equip you with the resources to see it through. I’ve had my doubts about some of my new responsibilities. “I’m not ready…It’s not a good time…I have to get myself together first”. I immediately emailed this information to one of my best friends. And this was the reply in summary,
“God has impregnated you with a gift to the world, just as he did the Virgin Mary…God told me to use what I have, it’s more than enough…That blessing you are looking for is already in you…Ask God to prepare you for delivery, it’s coming, be ready to nurture it and make it an asset to the world…It’s time to deliver this baby”.
I read a quote from Hugh Laurie that basically said” it’s a terrible thing in life to wait until you’re “ready”. There is no such thing as ready, only now.” I have to start living in NOW. We’ll never be quite “READY” to start that business, have kids, switch careers, start school, etc. Even though I may have my doubts, I’m gaining the confidence to know that I am ALWAYS READY for whatever dream or goal that I want to achieve. I am more than able to handle any responsibilities that are thrown my way!
If you have been “pregnant” for a while with a dream or goal that you’ve been hesitant about, it’s time to deliver. Deliver that dream, nurture that dream, love that dream, and raise that dream. Your now is TODAY. Set your goals, create action steps to reach them, set a deadline to hold yourself accountable, and get that butt to moving!
“Then the LORD answered me and said, "Record the vision And inscribe it on tablets, That the one who reads it may run. 3"For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay.” Habukkuk 2:2-4
Be Blessed,
